Parapenting
In parapenting or paragliding one flies trough the air by using a sort of parachute. A ‘normal’ parachute, which is often used by skydivers, has very tiny holes in it. Without these tiny holes the skydiver’s chute will tear apart because of the high wind pressure.



Parapenting in Les Arcs
The chute of a parapenter, has no holes in it whatsoever. The parenter with this type of chute can make use of air thermics, hot streams of air going up. Using these air thermics, parapenters gain altitude. Parapenters in Les Arcs use snowy mountain slopes to get airborne. It is required to be able to ski, to parapent in Les Arcs. So one first has to learn how to ski. The pay off, however, is well worth the effort. The views out of the sky are breathtaking. Parapenting is not at all dangerous, it is very safe and suits all ages.
